It’s important to mark the birth of a child. I want to help you celebrate your child in your own way. As an alternative to a more traditional Christening, you can mark the arrival of your baby in a way that reflects you and your journey as a family.
What is a Naming Ceremony?
A naming ceremony may be simple or complex, linking hopes and blessings, dreams and promises for the future. It is tailored specially for your family. A naming ceremony should be a unique celebration of your child’s place in your family so let’s make it personal together. We can blend traditions from different faiths and cultures to reflect your own values and beliefs, we can include siblings, pets, whatever quirky touches that make your family unique. Perhaps you would like to plant a tree, name a star or dedicate a time capsule for your child filled with blessings from family and friends.
Can I still have Godparents?
Absolutely! You can assign special people as ‘Godparents,’ ‘Guide Parents’, or any name you would like. You can choose anyone who plays a meaningful role in your family life and we can involve them in the ceremony if you wish.
Where are when can a naming ceremony take place?
There are no restrictions so you can choose the place that’s meaningful to you. Your venue could be the village hall, a local hotel, or further afield. It could even be a special woodland or atop a mountain! The journey up can be part of the ritual.
Many alternative christenings take place for newborns but you could choose to wait until your child is older to take a more active role in their special day and understand the significance of the ceremony. You could even combine a naming ceremony with a marriage to acknowledge your new family in a really memorable way!
I can create words and rituals that are truly unique and memorable for you and your guests. Every ceremony that I write is full of charm and warmth that is crafted especially for you. So if you are considering a naming ceremony get in touch with me to chat about how we can start working together.
